Also of note to classical fans, as part of the Chicago bid
for the 2016 olympics, the Chicago Symphony is offering,
TODAY ONLY, free mp3 downloads of the CSO performing "The
National Anthem" and "Stars and Stripes Forever", with Sir
Georg Solti conducting, from a 1986 recording, as well as
the Olympic Anthem conducted by Leonard Slatkin in 2008.
Go to: http://www.cso.org/backthebid to download tracks.
They also are offering great deals on concert tickets for
the next season, again, for today only.
I did the vinyl transfer (Technics SP-15, Stanton 500 AL-II
.7 spherical stylus, ATI P100 RIAA Phono preamp) of the
Solti tracks, from an LP produced to celebrate the Bears,
which also contained a rendition of "Bear Down, Chicago
Bears". I only took out the most offensive pops and ticks.
The mp3s are encoded at 160 kbps.
Coments are welcomed.
