Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) Conference Social/Happy Hour
SLA's Government Information Division, along with ALA's Government
Documents Roundtable (GODORT) invites you to attend the FDLP Conference
Social/Happy Hour at this year's Federal Depository Library Program
Conference in Arlington, VA. The Social/Happy Hour will be held on Monday,
October 19th from 4:30 to 9:00 pm in the Skydome Lounge at the Doubletree
Hotel in Arlington (the conference hotel). This Social/Happy Hour will
give conference attendees a chance to unwind after a long day of conference
meetings and PowerPoint presentations. Other librarians not participating
in the conference are also welcome to attend the Social/Happy Hour.
Those interested in attending this year's FDLP conference, scheduled for
Monday, October 19th through Wednesday, October 21st, can register at
the link below. Registration for the FDLP conference is free of charge.

Happy Hour food and drink specials will be available from 4:30 to 7:00
pm. Additionally, to foster informal discussion on events of importance
and interest to the Federal Depository Library Program, "topic tables"
will be set up around the lounge where librarians can gather and talk
about specific topics of interest to the program, such as:
Will depository libraries be information producers in the future? Or
will their partnership role in the FDLP focus exclusively on public
services to users?
What will the practical effects of mass digitization projects like
the Internet Archive's Americana Collection and Google Books be for
you and your collection?
Census 2010: what are you doing to publicize it or prepare your
collection for it or plan instruction around it?
How will the increasing number of documents that are "born digital"
in federal government agencies (and available to all on the web)
effect the future of the FDLP?
What will the Federal Depository Library Program look like in another
5 years? Will library patrons be primarily retrieving recently
issued government documents through means other than FDLP resources
and libraries in the future?
