Subject: Promoting Service to Veterans
To: Network Libraries
Two libraries have reached out to veterans in creative ways. NLS thought that their
methods might interest other network libraries.
The Arizona State Braille and Talking Book Division distributed the new digital
talking-book players to blind veterans during a ceremony at the Old Capitol Senate
Chambers on September 11. Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett and other
lawmakers helped distribute the players to the guests of honor and the event was
reported in the Arizona Capitol Times. (A copy of the article is attached.)
The New Jersey State Library for the Blind and Handicapped has issued the attached
Veterans Rack Card to promote its services to honorably discharged veterans in its area.
Adam Szczepaniak, director of the New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille
Center, said the public relations team used stock photos and personalized them with
information about his library. (A copy of the card is attached.)
