Charles Rosen recorded for various companies, some now defunct. His 1960s set of
late Beethoven sonatas on Sony is still one of the best. He recorded
other Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Haydn, Liszt; and 20C music by
Stravinsky, Webern, Boulez and Carter.
His book "The Classical Style" is a standard text. He has written
several other books, especially on the romantic era; and he has a PhD in
French literature.
I think he is now retired.
