In the early 60s I worked for Leeds Music in NY. Among the publishers for
whom they were agents was Irsaeli Music Publishers.
Most of the classical music in that catalog was on Irsaeli LPs, mostly
Hed-Arzi. I still have a couple of 10" LPs of Paul Ben-Hailm.
I have the feeling that much of what appeared as home-grown classical music
in Israel at the time was government subsidized, though I can't prove it
right now.
There was a paperback that had bios and selective worklists of the whole
family.

Yes but I was specifically interested in classical releases, and if there
were any more with well-known international artists.

Hed Arzi was and probably still is one of the major record companies in
Israel. There were a couple of albums of Israeli music that were very
prominently imported and promoted in the Jewish community. There are
several albums which were to be found in EVERY temple or synagogue
library in the 50s. Not all of the pressings were Israeli, some were
done here in the U.S. Israeli pressings often have a clear celluloid
covering over the label and sometimes have a colored oval transfer tax
stamp. An example of a label with a sticker like this is seen here.

I recently found a 78 eBay,that I had never seen like before,either
from the orchestra or the label. This is a 10" vinyl 78,that is probably
from the late 1940s,put out by the Israeli music publishing company
Hed-Arzi (No.767).It's an early recording of The Jerusalem Symphony/ Kol
Israel Orchestra, under the direction of Walter Goehr, doing Anitra's
Dance, and Solvejg's Song from Peer Gynt.
I was just wondering if anybody knows anything about other releases from
this time with this orchestra,or this label.
