Ah, you're right, George, I missed the word "incorrectly" and read it as
". . . I assumed, according to many whose opinions I respect, that it
was an attempt to get backing for the preservation of indifferent
stuff." The phrase about the respected opinions was referring to
"incorrectly" as indicated by our postings, instead of "an attempt".

----- what Steven says is that precisely those postings were from "many

opinions I respect". So apart from reading them and understanding that
he had
apparently not been correct, he might have used the 40 minutes for other
mundane matters. Some things take longer as you get older.
