FACULTY POSITION. CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA

Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure track)

The School of Library & Information Science of The Catholic University of America invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin in the fall 2010 or spring 2011 semester. We seek energetic individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: information organization, museum informatics, digital preservation, health informatics, and information technology. 

An earned doctoral degree in library and information science or a closely related field is required for the appointment. Candidates must be able to teach one or more of the SLIS core courses: Organization of Information, Information Sources and Services, Information Systems in Libraries and Information Centers, and Libraries and Information in Society (http://slis.cua.edu/courses/courses.cfm). Candidates should have strong teaching ability and the ability to use technology effectively for teaching and learning, including the ability to teach in a blended format. All candidates must have a developed research agenda and publications commensurate with the level of appointment. The ability to attract grants is highly desirable.

The school offers courses in Virginia and at the Library of Congress. Each faculty member is expected to teach one course a year at one of our off campus sites. Off-campus teaching can be delivered in a blended format. The teaching load is five courses per academic year. Summer teaching is optional.
