Well ; Steve Smolian is correct on the point that Edison records of Teddy
Roosevelt were in fact
all cylinders and no Edison Diamond Discs of TR were made for sale . It is
of interest that The Teddy Roosevelt cylinders were recorded by Edison
staff at Mr. Roosevelt's home at Sagamore Hill near Oyster Bay Long Island .
But I may have missed something : According to Mr Smolian , Teddy
Roosevelt's discs were all laterally cut . What company manufactured and sold
these Teddy Roosevelt lateral discs , I have trmendous interest in hearing and
perhaps obtaining copies .
I will comment at a later time on stylus to groove interface , but suffice
it to say that contact of the playback stylus with the bottom of the
groove is not the preferred interface for any groove lateral or vertical.
More on this to follow .
