The problem is quite simple...at least in "pop"music! If we assume that
Led Zeppelin was the first "heavy metal" rock bans (and they were based
on being the LOUDEST rock band around,,,?!)...we can then create an
ordered list of "Rock bands in loudness order" fairly simply...!
However (as I can personally attest) the problem is that rock bands who
play at these levels can inflect temporary and PERMANENT hearing
losses...both to their hapless audiences and to themselves...?! I have
lost virtually ALL the hearing in my left ear...and much/most of the
hearing in my right ear as well. I suspect most of this resulted from
too many nights spent standing in front of Fender Twin amps, turned
WAY up to get desired distortion! My guess is that I am FAR from
the only musician in this condition...?!
