The conference, Redefining the Value of Information: Exploring the New Equation, will take place February 28 - March 2, 2010 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia, PA. The three-day meeting will take a look at the diverse measures information seekers currently use to define information value and why these measures are important to them. And it will show how innovative content providers and librarians are taking a fresh look at their content and levering emerging technologies in order to create even greater value for users.
Highlights Include:
A provocative opening keynote by Clay Shirky, author of Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organization, examining the new forms of scholarly communication emerging from today's Digital Information Revolution.
A panel of experienced researchers in the sciences, social sciences and humanities discussing how they measure the value of the products and services that they use, the factors that they consider - and why.
A look at emerging technologies such as translations on the fly that will allow content providers and librarians to increase the value of their content to a global information market
A discussion of trends that are transforming user perceptions of the value of information, such as the growth of open content and social media and the debates over the value of authority and quality.
Case studies that will demonstrate how to measure the true return on investment that your products and services provide to users.
A closing keynote by John Willbanks, Vice President of Science at the Creative Commons, providing a glimpse of what the information products and services of the future will look like if the information value equation is significantly transformed by new forms of scholarly communication.
Establishing value for today's digital information products and services is no easy task. For while credibility, quality and authority remain key to information value, the melding of content and technology has increased user expectations and introduced new measures for consideration. Join us in February to explore the new value equation and ensure that your products and services stay at the top of the rating scale!
