Thanks Michael, Tom and Lou for your knowledge about New York in the 1930s.
I used the info I found on the YouTube information - 1930 should be read as
1930s I guess now.
I wonder if someone could hand me a picture of a 1930 news dealers WITH a
promo or display of the Hit of the Week or Durium records ...... That would
be great.

Hans -- I'll go a lot further than Tom did. This film was taken in
1939. All the clues are there. There are no cars left from the
twenties. All of the cars except perhaps ten are post 1932. Besides
the George Washington Bridge, they also show the Empire State and
Chrysler buildings. The busses and the fashions scream late 30s-early
40s. But the clincher is the marquee of the Lowes 47th Street. I was
struggling with trying to read it, but someone in the original YouTube
comments identified the films as Bachelor Mother and Saint In London,
films I've never heard of but the commenter said are from 1939. It
would take perhaps an hour to go thru the movie listings and find the
exact WEEK the film was shot.
This is close to the New York I remember in my childhood of the late
40s, and it is obvious that it couldn't have been 15 or 20 years
earlier. And I was just at some of these exact locations a couple of
weeks ago!! Such as Broadway and Rector at 0:44! And I had never been
walking at that corner before in my whole life but it was a block away
from tbe place I was going to!
