Hi, Peter,
While that may work, we need to caution readers that the label's
adhesive is attached directly to the lacquer protecting the
reflective layer. If the reflective layer is damaged (and the dye
layer immediately underneath) then the data is lost.
I have seen more than one label pull the reflective layer (and
possibly the dye layer) off the polycarbonate(?) substrate.
Please be very careful with this process.
