These needles were developed in the late 30s and sold widely in the
40s. The taper is said to allow for the needles to be used for perhaps
25 or 50 plays. Regular needles are only good for one play, which
includes newly manufactured needles available from dealers now. But
yes, those regular needles would also be usable.
