It would appear to be a large collection of LP's, with a few 78's, and
is mostly reissues of older material...?! The interesting thing is that
the university seems to be ignorant of Canadian copyright law...any
sound recording fixed before 1/1/1960 is now in the public domain
here in Canada (although it has never been clearly established
whether the issue of a "processed" recording re-starts the
"copyright clock"...?!).
The problem is that very few university music departments display
any interest in popular music (except Bowling Green, in Ohio and
UCSB (Ca) which has expressed interest in acquiring my half-vast
shellac archive...?!). To me, this huge vinyl archive has an inherent
cultural value; that fact should make it worth owning and studying...?!
