Risking the branding as a renegade ive accomplished somewhat better audio files that have been mutilated by compression.
The original software will do nothing toward restoring the original file. The best you can do is attempt to recreate some life to what is left.
I use a paragraphic equalizer, Aphex aural exciter and dbx expander to restore some dynamics to compressed files.
Not the best but better.
