Hello all. This is my first post to the list after being a lurker for a
couple of years. I subscribed at the urging of my friend Dave Nolan, and it
has been a fun read and a valuable resource ever since.

The following comes from the NYC-Freaks list, to which Dave was a big

*Hey all,* *
I may have mentioned to some of you that Joy, Dave's widow, was interested
in trying to make some sense of the astounding collection of music that Dave
left behind, much of which has never seen the light of day.*

*I went to their apartment today to begin this process and am totally
overwhelmed by the sheer volume of stuff that Dave has. (Joy told me that
Dave had just gotten his home studio set up the way he wanted, so there is
all kinds of equipment!). Just to give some of you a sense, I am now in
temporary possession of at least 15 terabytes of hard drives, mostly filled,
as well as what must be 1000 CDs. And I haven't even touched the DATs or
cassettes.*

*Clearly this is a project for more than one person. My knowledge of some of
this music is also somewhat limited. So...I'm looking for more people to be
part of "Team Dave". Mostly this should be people with taping and/or
archiving experience of some sort. However, if you are experienced just with
ripping CDs and setting up torrents, stuff like that, there is probably work
for you too. As this moves forward we will probably be asking for help from
people to ID songs, artists, setlists, etc. (i.e. If you are the world's
reigning expert on Lettuce, we'll need you!).*

*Anyway, we want to get this stuff archived and in most cases, out to the
masses. As we all know, there are some tasty treats in there!*
