For those who watched the video I posted you will see the street car ride
that was recommended. We took to the turn and then got off and had a great
sandwick and salad lunch at the cafe on the right. (Actually our healthiest
meal). we then got back on and took it part way to the Garden District. The
houses are great and you can see the old cemetary. (Unfortunately it was
Sunday and cemetaries are locked shut). We then got back on the bus back to
The other thing not mentioned is the free Ferry to Algiers. A most
interesting place. We did that Monday morning. There is a Jazz Walk Of Fame there
but none of the audio works. Still you can walk on a levy. Again, see my
I sure hope that many of you chose to come early or stay late. The
Conference program is so packed that you really don't have time to get out to
Grarden District or over to Algiers without allowing 3-4 hours for each. You are
in easy walking distance from Louis Armstrong Park and Congo Square (in
Louis Armstrong Park).
I'm staying till Monday afternoon and will fill my day Sunday and Monday
until noon. Early morning walks around French Quarter are also recommended.
