I have often purchased (at "yard sales" and thrift stores) un-marked
reels of r2r tape and cassettes; these are VERY often amatuer recordings
of radio events...! Perhaps what we need is a net-based repository for
copies of off-air recordings; it was fairly common for folks with tape
recorders (including cassette decks!) to record radio, presumably
including "the hit records of the day" from local broadcasts...?!
