Hi:
This paper just published (July 15) in D-Lib Magazine may be of some
interest to this list:
"nature.com OpenSearch: A Case Study in OpenSearch and SRU Integration"
by Tony Hammond, Nature Publishing Group
<http://dlib.org/dlib/july10/hammond/07hammond.html>
Abstract: "This paper provides a case study of OpenSearch and SRU
integration on the nature.com science publisher platform. These two
complementary search methodologies are implemented on top of a common base
service and provide alternate interfaces into the underlying search engine.
Specific points addressed include query strings, response formats, and
service control and discovery. Current applications and future work
directions are also discussed."
The paper compares the OpenSearch and SRU search paradigms and also talks
about the OpenSearch Extension for SRU, as well as discusses some lessons
for SRU from OpenSearch.
Cheers,
Tony
