I?m going to second David?s comments. The National Media Lab, using
accelerated testing in the mid 90?s gave 4nm & 8mm digital media an
average shelf life of ten years. The vast majority of those formats
have exceeded their expectations but I have observed properly stored
DA88 and DAT tapes that are 10 to 12 years old exhibiting severe,
sometimes unplayable, errors.
Regarding Lynx products:
You won?t go wrong here. Lynx equipment is highly regarded in the
professional community, often preferred over much more expensive gear.
I?m currently saving up for an Aurora 8. :-)
