I use DC7, but only for sound file manipulation:
* recording
* identification of silence between tracks
* splitting a large file into separate tracks
* normalization (for each track, and among a collection of tracks)
For "restoration," I use only Brian Davies' excellent tools ClickRepair
and DeNoise <http://www.clickrepair.net/>. I don't know if I would use
them for restoration for commercial release, but they work very well for
my P to VG 78s. "Digital Artifacts" increasingly seem to be in the ear
of the listener, and I shore ain't gonna start another flame war on the
subject. Contact me off-line if you want my opinions.
