The 78-L list serves essentially the same purpose as did RR; the
main difference being that the "turnaround time" for 78-L is
MUCH faster! RR often included questions and imformation
requests from its readers; this meant there would be an interval
of a few months between a question being published and its
answers likewise...! I once sold (quite cheaply, IIRC) a large
bunch of my duplicate Canadian 216xxx discs to Len; he wanted
to include some in his auctions.
I bought a LARGE bunch of back issues from RR...and spent a
month or so reading them all. I also managed to acquire a
fair amount of the issues I didn't own (and I THINK I received
photocopies of other such issues)...so I have all of them in one
form or another?!
While we're on this subject...does anyone know if it is still
possible to acquire back issues of "New Amberola Graphic?"
I am missing a number of the later issues...since I quite
literally "fell on hard times" back in February 1997 and
could no longer afford to subscribe to discographic
journals...!
I wonder how many archives of these sorts of publications
are going to be lost to us...carelessly discarded by the sueviving
relatives who are tasked with cleaning out the homes of 78
collectors after we go to "that great record shop in the sky?!"
In fact, I would guess a fair number of 78's will also be
"landfilled" the same way?!
