I am doing research on Italian American radio programming
(specifically soap operas) in the late 1920s-late 1930s, and I was
wondering if you could help guide my research. I'd like to find
transcripts/recordings to radio shows at the time, as well as get a
broader sense of what programs Italian immigrants in New York City
would have listened to. My initial research has led me to two
programs focused on Italian Americans, "Life with Luigi" (aired on
CBS) as well as "Little Italy" (aired on NBC Blue). Does anyone know
where I could located a transcript/audio copy of the program "Little
Italy?" Any suggestions about other programming (either Italian
language soap operas or English language serials depicting
Italian/Americans) would be most appreciated.
My initial research has led me to a few Italian language radio
stations that were popular at the time-including WOV (which later
became WADO), WHOM, and WCDA. Does anyone know where any of these
archives are housed ?
Best,
