Part-Time, Temporary Position:
Project Coordinator for LSTA Grant

The Project Coordinator, under the direction of the Interim Head of the
Urban Archives in Paley Library, will perform work associated with a
one-year Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant to digitize and
make accessible audio, visual and textual materials documenting the history
of the Civil Rights Movement in Philadelphia. The incumbent will work
collaboratively with archival and digital initiatives staff to ensure
qualitative and quantitative production goals are met; will review the work
of others assigned to support the project; create statistical and summary
reports related to the grant; and assist in the review and selection of
materials to be preserved and digitized.
Prepare materials for digitization, scanning; create, review or edit
metadata; and input materials into the CONTENTdm database and into backup

Assist with the development and implementation of a web portal on the
history of the Civil Rights Movement in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
Contribute statistics and other relevant data for preparation of progress
reports and other documentation as required under the LSTA grant.
The applicant must be enrolled in or have received a masters degree from
an ALA-accredited program, or have an MA in history or film and media studies.
Demonstrated experience and interest in archives and knowledge of archival
methods and techniques.
Demonstrated familiarity with the concepts and theories of project and

Effective interpersonal and communication skills, and attention to detail.
Familiarity with CONTENTdm.
Duration & Pay
20 hours/week. $15 per hour. Weekdays. Position funded for 50 weeks. No
