At EUP, students must bring the copies of their thesis to the library
to be bound (no, we don't have an e-thesis system). They are asked to
fill out a form which includes their DOB. I can only remember one
case where the student might have objected to supplying this, but I
don't think it was needed in their case. I always add the year if I
have it, whether there is a conflict or not, as per the LCRI. I seem
to recall one case where I needed to add the month/day as well to
break a conflict for a student with a very common name, so it's nice to have.
