Description:
The incumbent works with audio performances fixed or recorded on various current and obsolete media. The position involves the handling of media, and the operation of the equipment on which the works are played.
Creates digital audio files of selected materials and performs post-processing functions consistent with best archival practice. Performs digital preservation of the library's recorded sound collection materials encompassing the earliest historical analog formats through modern digital media.
The incumbent operates a full range of complex and sophisticated professional audio equipment. Tunes, adjusts, monitors, and analyzes the performance of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Skill in preserving sound recordings
Ability to plan and carry out audio preservation projects
Knowledge of the techniques and theories characteristic of analog recording studio equipment, electronics and digital technology
Knowledge of computer systems, application, and other information technologies
