I have done various tests on flash recorders for recording live bands. I like Sony's
recent addition to its line - the PCM-M10. Has excellent internal mikes, accepts external mikes, runs on penlights, wave and MP3 (various codecs) and
manual/auto levels.

Think it has better mikes than the Zoom H2 which I also own. Find the menu structure on the sony to be easier to use. Find it more compact and better value than the more expensive offerings from Edirol and Sony.
Sony uses the MicroSD card, H2 uses SD cards.
