Brand of the guilty tapes, please?  Years ago I got a rewinder with 
cleaning posts because the system was easily prone to dew problems.  By 
the way, use of a rewinder is HIGHLY recommended because the tape is 
wound thru the tape path in camcorders.  And I've retired my camcorders, 
and only use a Sony deck.
