To my knowledge it was the same group that recorded some Haydn quartets,
among many others, for Westminster, but these are not those recordings, My
impression is that they are other contemporaneous recordings made for
Austrian Radio. They were released on the Favorit Klassik label in Austria,
then CD’ed on Preiser. Does anyone know if the Westminster Haydn ever made
it to CD?
The personnel, as I have it, is as follows:
Anton Kamper, 1st violin
Karl Maria Titze, 2nd violin
Erich Weiß, viola
Franz Kwarda, ‘cello
I have always had a soft spot for their recordings. They were perhaps not
the last word in technical brilliance, but they always showed a great sense
of Schlagobers. The recordings of Viennese music has a wonderful, inimitable
sense of style.

Has anyone recording dates for the three CD boxes of Haydn String Quartets
played by the Vienna Konzerthaus Quartet on Preiser 90901/4, 90905/8,
90909/12?
The cover photo shows the original quartet. I love to know the actual
personal as well.
