And when I lived in Gisborne, NZ, from 1959 to 1964 our telephone number was
5891, and not many people had a phone either.  I recall my Mother using an
egg-timer when we called my sister in Australia, who joined the Covent at
age 17 years, or any long distance call for that matter.  Toll calls were
all charged for from anywhere back then that was not in your town/city.
