I have been working my way through some of our earliest ORT recordings which
are in Emitape 4 which is acetate tape and stamped on the shiny rust
coloured backing. I have done about 350 so far. The ones recorded from
1952-1960 played fine but now that I am in the 1960's I am hitting problems
of squealing and it leaves residue on the heads, guides etc. It is not
exactly SSS or Lol. Will keep you posted on how it progresses. Other than
that, apart from the oozing splices which need replacing, they have been
performing quite well. The remodified low friction Studer works well here
:-)
Have a very merry and safe Christmas and New Year to all my ARSC friends.
Cheers
Marie
