Ive got a bunch of 3M instrumentation 1/2 and 1 inch tape reslit to 1/4 inch
that is doing the same thing ...... nice clear mylar base lol I sure hope all
that NASA data recorded on that stuff is backed up.
so the binder must be from same formula across the board for various end uses
of 3M tape during that time period.
Its amazing i have lots of cassettes that DAK coated in house that dont shed
oxide or squeal ..... unknown to many DAK did a lot of their own cassette
coating and slitting in house. We used Magnox oxide formula.

Hi Tom
My experience with 206 and 207 is that the oxide drops completely off the tape.
My luck it was after the capstan so it played one last time. Had 3 reels like
that, stored in a cool dry environment.
