Steve,
I'm basing my mods on an article I found in 1982 (Popular Electronics,
April 1982, pp. 77-9). It describes how to mod the 45 speed control
circuit on a Technics SL-D1. Any good audiophile forum site will mention
similar mods.
Basically, the mod changes the resistance in the control circuit that
generates the reference frequency. A circuit diagram for your SL-5200
will be very helpful and the layout of the circuit board may affect your
choices. If you throw in a switch, you can play your 45s and your 78s.
