Hello guys,
I'm a graduate student at University of Michigan. Currently, I'm working on
a paper that investigates how different archives/collections/libraries are
managing their audio media. More specifically, I'm interested in what
efforts are being made to digitize this media. My main concerns lie in
1) Increasing public access to audio archives through digitization
(especially obsolete formats)
2) Production of a stable "archival" digital copies that are not as
susceptible to physical decay.
I would really appreciate any general surveys of information you guys might
be able to offer me. Better yet, if you could direct me to published papers
or other sources of information on this topic, that would help me out
tremendously. I am actually a PhD student of Russian literature, so PLEASE
assume my total ignorance when directing me to information. IE nothing is to
"obvious" to mention.
Thanks!
