Is this amount from stampers or mothers, or the matrix?
Let me add background: As you know, Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" from
1942 was one of the most popular releases in recorded history. So much
so that a re-recording was done in 1947 because all the stampers had
completely worn out (according to Decca.)
Assuming one matrix could be created from the original wax recording
(correct??), there were a maximum number of mothers and from there a
maximum number of stampers that could be created (correct??) and from
there, finished pressings from those stampers.
What could that very total number of finished product be? Somewhere I
remember reading about a theoretical maximum but I can't seem to find
that number.
