Hello,
Thanks for your message. I'm sorry to report that the Yale collection's finding aids show no evidence of recordings by Joseph Richardson Jones.
Sincerely, Richard Warren

Subject: [ARSCLIST] Research Query
Hello! I am conducting research on an African American broadcaster, reporter, and civil rights activist named Joseph Richardson Jones (ca. 1901-1948). Jones began his career in vaudeville in the 1920s, turned to radio in the 1930s, and produced films and wrote for the historic black newspaper The Atlanta Daily World in the 1930s and 1940s. I am trying to locate transcription discs containing the following radio shows for which he acted and/or directed:
The Life of Uncle Ned (1934-35): aired on WAVE in Lousiville, KY, and WENR and WAMQ in Chicago
Welcome Valley and Lights Out (1935) aired on WENR and WAMQ in Chicago
Happiness Ahead and Harlem Penthouse (1935): aired on WCFL in Chicago
My email is [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
Thank you for your assistance.
P.S.: For more information on Jones, please go to this link on the New Georgia Encyclopedia:
