Pertinent to some of our recent discussions about the Philips Compact Cassette:
It's interesting how quickly this technology evolved from a portable dictation format at first to a
viable (if not great sounding) music-distribution format in a few short years.
Noting the success of the mass-duped cassette, especially after boomboxes and then Walkman players
hit the market, one can understand why portability and convenience once again trumped fidelity with
the rise of digital downloads.
