I respectfully disagree. Look at the Coachella lineup. Genre-wise,
it's not insular at all. (It is, of course, basically every name
you've seen on pitchfork.com for the past two years. It's insular
that way. Just like the HFStival ~15 years ago...) There's also
Blabbermouth and similar sites for the metal heads, punknews, and so
It's been much easier to find out about new acts and order the CD/LP
