Overlooked fact here...! "Rock" music is NOT the same as "Rock'n'roll"
"Rock'n'roll" probably predates its name by at least a decade?! The music
"jump blues" in the early forties, but wasn't sold as "rock and roll" (that
was the name of
the dance one did to the fast-paced shuffle rhythm) until Alan Freed started
"race records" under that name c. 1952. It is my theory that the young,
skilled drummers of the late fifties either didn't notice or couldn't play
r'n'r rhythm...and thus simplified that to the one-two-THREE-four rhythm
the style and its descendant "rock" for the last fifty-odd years...!
