Hi ARSC members,
I have begun a project to clean some vinyl records using a Spin Clean, as recommended on this list. I chose to purchase the Tergitol 15-S-3 and 15-S-9 and mix the cleaner myself, because Spin Clean wouldn't tell me what was in their cleaning formula.
But I've been having a heck of a time figuring out the right amount of Tergitol to use. The Spin Clean reservoir holds about ¼ gallon of water, and I believe the recommendation is for .25 parts of each type of Tergitol to 100 parts distilled water. Would that be about ½ tsp. of each?
In my first cleaning effort, I miscalculated and used 4 tsp. of Tergitol per ¼ gallon of distilled water. Should I go back and reclean these albums? Do you think I can just run them through the distilled water to rinse them?
This is all bringing back bad memories of science lab in school.
Thanks for any assistance,
Julie
