First time poster here! I'm becoming increasingly interested in the world of archiving, especially in working with cylinders. I'm doing a lot of research, but was wondering if anyone had experiences they would like to share in attempting to restore/preserve/play back degraded cylinders. What are the main forms of deterioration that happen? How might one go about attempting to restore and get a decent playback of a deteriorated cylinder? What are ideal storage conditions? Any firsthand knowledge you had to share would be greatly appreciated!
