Not to make too fine a point, but question ...
If Music Hunter's tagline, which does include what can be considered an advertisement pitch, is
inappropriate, how about the numerous signature lines with links to people's commercial websites?
Isn't that the same thing, just perhaps less "tacky" or "blatant"?
I don't like restricting any of this, to be honest, I'm not anti-commerce. I think a customer
endorsement as the sole topic of a message, posted by the party being endorsed, is over the line in
this forum. But can't we just relax about people's signature lines? If you take it out to its
logical conclusion, you get to an absurd place, in my opinion. And I think it's unfair to single out
one guy just because he's got what some deem a more "aggressive" commercial signature line.
One man's opinions ...

ARSC has clear rules for the list. See http://www.arsc-audio.org/arsclist.html
"Spamming and commercial advertising are also inappropriate and will not be tolerated and can result
in removal from the list. Personal messages, subscription requests and other business should be sent
to the appropriate address and not posted to the list."
I really don't see how that tagline can be viewed as anything but spam.
How about we all move on from this thread and start talking about topics relevant to the list? Keep
in mind that the list is UNMODERATED, meaning it's up to all of us to keep the discussion on track.

(Speaking generally) maybe it would be good for ARSC to set some clear rules for the list and all
members follow it, as there can be (to me) some off topic missives but I am not ARSC.
The posting by Music Hunter didn't annoy me, but then my ARSC mail is filtered into that of 78-L, so
I am used to deleting large chunks of mail unread after a quick scan of the subject line. But, even
speaking as a customer of Music Hunter, their "slogan" does grate on a personal level (many slogans
do) but I cannot fault their service to us.
