Hello everyone.
Since it never gets dry enough here to create sparks on reel to reel I
can't build what I think will work but I can tell you what to do. There
are special brushes that are conductive. They are used a lot in clean
rooms in high tech (wife works at Intel). I use these mostly to clean
records before they are played. There brushes do not generate a static
build up and if there is one they dissipate it. So all you have to do is
buy two brushes, rig them so that they hang over the reel and ground
them (really easy on the a80). This should solve your problems. If
interested email me and I send you a picture of these brushes. I don't
know how to post them on the list. They are different brushes and some
are very wide and flexible so that they will not interfere with the reel
rotation.
Cheers
Shai
