Hello metal owners,
I consider that speaking to a metals conservator as you suggest is the only
sensible thing. I would be very surprised if Edison's metalwork was nickel in
all instances, and I would suspect presence of copper and silver. Pitting
corrosion cannot be excluded.
I am fascinated by the idea that we (in the sense "humanity"!) have material
so close to the original recordings.
