Goodness. Where do I begin? Ted Fagen and Bill Moran, Julian Morton
Moses, David Hall, Philip L. Miller, Ray Wile, a panel of Robert Merrill,
Rise Stevens, and Anna Moffo, Tim Brooks, Tim Fabrizio, R.D.
Darrell, Reiner Lotz, Dick Spottswood,
Just a start with some authors..
Commenting on Mike's list I might saw that for an article in a publication
where - sadly - most general collectors or people who read mags don't know
the "insiders", I'd sellect the following:
Performers Robert Merrill, Rise Stevens and Anna Moffo
Tin Pan alley Composers Gerald Marks, Dana Suiesse, Edward Eliscu (BTW
the one I listed so far were at SAME NYC Cobn)
R&B Producer and composer - Dave Bartholomew
Bluegrass Expert Diick Spottswood
The researchers who found the earliest sound recording - The First Sounds
Cooperative
Author of books on Early African Recorded Music - Tim Brooks
Founders of the legendary Cameo-Parkway label: Dave Appel and Bernie Lowe
Jazz historian Dan Morganstern
Sound Engineer for the Beach Boys - Tom Owen
Arhoolie Records founder Chris Strachwitz.
That's a start. No offense to the others listed but they are not household
names that would appeal to folks outside specialized journals.
At least that's what I'm thinking you are talking about.
So far the biggest name recognation person we have - for the GENERAL public
- this year is Gail Zappa and probably Ray Dante and Paul Petersen too.
So there is my list. BTW Mike you erroneously misspelled Her Lotz's name.
It's Rainer (but pronounced "Rein -er" <vbg>)
