There were a couple of manufacturers that used backcoating on mag stock
(3M and FPC being the most recent). However, I am not familiar with one
that imprinted their stock with diagonal lines (especially on the oxide
side!). Pyral stock usually had a white backing. AGFA stocks have an
imprint indicating the oxide formulation (IE: AGFA MF5)
It sounds to me like this could be artifact from the film being scraped
on the edge of a reel.
What problems are you encountering with playback?
