The Bureau of Land Management is preparing a position description (PD) for
classification in preparation for recruiting a Digital Services Librarian.
This is a new position for the BLM Library and we would be interested to
see any PDs that would be helpful in creating a new PD. Here is some basic
information about this position:
The BLM is preparing to recruit an experienced Librarian to
coordinate the BLM Library's effort to develop and manage digital
services to support the information needs for all BLM employees. The
Librarian would manage the BLM Library's/Information Services’
electronic resources in support of the Bureau's information needs and
decision making regarding natural resources management
responsibilities. This person would organize, integrate, and provide
access to all Library digital resources for internal and external
users via the Web including journals, BLM publications, databases,
the Integrated Library System (ILS), the Internet Archive which will
contain many BLM Documents, etc. Access to all Library resources
would be available online to BLM staff nationwide.
We will use the final Position Description to develop the vacancy
announcement that we hope to issue within the next few months.
We would really appreciate any information provided.
