Does anyone know of either a full discography of the Dot label or have
extensive catalogs (hello, Steve S.?)for this label? I am trying to
clear up some confusion that originates at
<http://www.spaceagepop.com/haskell.htm>
It is clear that Dot released at least two Jimmie Haskell LPs that used
his arrangements that consist essentially of a quartet of French horns.
I have "Jimmie Haskell's French horns, volume 2" (Dot DLP 25860) in hand
and it appears that there is no disc titled volume 1, but "When Love is
Young, (Dot DLP 25806) seems to be where he first tried out this
arrangement. The website above lists volume 2 as volume 1 and then cites
"Jimmie Haskell's French Horns", (Dot DLP 25800). All online sources
indicate that this catalog number is actually "Billy Vaughn Presents
Friends From Rio Playing "Somethin' Stupid" (1967), but I am still
wondering if there is or isn't a third "French horns" LP from Haskell.
It looks like not, but a discography would clear this up.
Thanks,
Peter Hirsch
