The Archives Hub is an aggregator for UK Archives. We have a detailed section of our website for our contributors, including information on data creation:
You can see we have a page about mandatory fields as well.
For all of our records there is a URL, for example: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/data/gb271gcpppeace
And you can also view the EAD by just adding the file extension: http://archiveshub.ac.uk/data/gb271gcpppeace.xml
This may be of some help to you if you are looking for examples, though I cannot say that all of our records are the best examples of cataloguing, overall they are of a good standard.
with best wishes,

It would certainly speed up work here to see how other archives have done theirs markup.
