You might consider a vertical organizer, of the sort that you find in any
office supply store.
For example:

These are made in metal or plastic by many companies, in a variety of
heights and spacings.
Just place the vertical organizer on any rack mounted shelf.
For archival audio reel cases, I've been using these

and have been pleased with their quality and function. They have reel
adapters for DIN, NAB, and CINE mount hubs.
